The Light of Stars Long Ceased to Be examines separation, longing, and the fracturing of identities following loss. Incorporating ancient mythology, it explores the field of emotional 'quantum physics' to unsettle heroic characters from chronological and cultural constraints in an investigation of embodiment's complexities outside of time. The collection echoes the Seven Sisters of the Pleiades deep space object and draws on geological and physiological imagery to re-evaluate perceptions of structure, both bodily and poetic.

The 2018 winner of the AmeriCymru Poetry Prize and a 2011 recipient of the Terry Hetherington's Young Writers' Award, Whyt Pugh's debut poetry collection, The Light of Stars Long Ceased to Be, won the Melita Hume Poetry Prize. In 2023, their play, The Uncertainty Principle, was long-listed by the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Austin Film Festival. Whyt holds a PhD in Literature from the University of South Wales, where they taught Literary Theory and Romanticism until 2015.
