Sandstorm
Sandstorm
By Anas Hassan
OUT NOW
In Sandstorm, the footprints of those who walked before us in personal and collective histories are unearthed, with a recognition that we cannot walk ‘without leaving a trace behind’. These traces form a rich, never-ending tapestry woven into our present-day realities. Anas Hassan has an eye for intricate, quiet details, the kind which become embedded in memory, reshape consciousness and connect people across cultures, time and space. We are connected and, at the same time, alone ‘under the moon and stars’.
Anas Hassan studied history and international relations at Downing College, Cambridge. He is an experienced strategy consultant and business mentor, has run several marathons and ultramarathons, and lives in London. His pamphlet, ‘Bibi, Are You Living?’, was published by Eyewear in 2017, and his work has appeared in a number of poetry magazines and journals. His poems featured in an exhibition of poetry and art on the theme of memory, held at the Menier Gallery in London in 2019 in collaboration with The Art Cooperative, a group of artists and sculptors. Anas has performed at venues including the Vortex in Dalston (in London Jazz Festival), the Windmill in Brixton, and the Poetry Café in Covent Garden.
