I Speak Home
I Speak Home
By Keith Jarrett
An exciting debut from a highly accomplished poet, both in performance and on the page. Jarrett’s work navigates the tensions between home and belonging, between relationships and personal identities. Line by line the collection is lyrically rich, charged with emotion and passion yet tinged with a wonderful twist of humour.
Londoner Keith Jarrett is a former UK poetry slam champion and a writer of short fiction. Since 2012 he has taught in schools as part of a pioneering Spoken Word Educator programme. He is now a PhD scholar at Birkbeck, University of London, and completing his first novel.
Keith Jarrett’s poems combine a rhetorical purposefulness with a smart and adventurous imagination. Politics is sharply configured and emotions are laid open, in these cool and surprising poems that at one moment threaten to tighten and knot with complexity, the next fall out and unfold with a disarming honesty and clarity. Funny, sad, sassy and brave, these poems will do you good. – Jack Underwood
