The Chrisseldorff device gave humanity the Faustian promise of medical immortality, leading it to a soaring golden age and then a plummeting decline. In the debris of the far future, history swirls as a new mortal nation struggles to its feet. Weary with horror, the young theocracy threads itself together to the will of its prophet. As it carves its old world into the new, mad-men, insidious creations, and the vengeful offal of sadistic experiments lurk beyond its fringes. Mr. Akeley loses the flavour, a slumber is disturbed, Moon goes missing, a call is sounded from Bayton, howls echo across Belanglo, Windradyne’s war reawakens, and four boys make a discovery that will bring death to the town of Garee.
