Ghost Hunt is a poetry book of powerful truths in the aftermath of a sudden death. Laced with expressions of loss and an exploration of the spectrum of human emotions, this collection takes you on a jolting journey with keen insight and humour.

Mac Gay is the author of several collections of poetry, including Farm Alarm, runner up for Texas Review Press 2018 Robert Phillips Poetry Chapbook Prize, and, more recently, Our Fatherlessness, from The Orchard Street Press, Ltd. His poems have appeared in many journals, including Atlanta Review, Crosswinds, Cutbank, E-Verse Radio, Ironwood, Plainsong, and The American Journal of Poetry. He teaches at Perimeter College of Georgia State University and lives with his wife Jana, 2 dogs and 4 cats in Covington, Georgia.

"Ghost Hunt is a vivid book of explicit and hard-snark truths that blast off the pages like gun shot. The book has a hot, chaotic heart that burns a wild fire through the farms and football fields and churches of Jasper County."Loueva Smith, author of Consequences of a Moonless Night

"A father's sudden death is the nexus of this hard-hitting new collection of poems by Mac Gay. In a book threaded with tragic loss and existential angst, Gay manages to weave insight and wry humor and formal genius in such a way that one feels at once kicked in the gut and charmed by Our Fatherlessness, his most recent and powerfully rendered collection." - Beth Gylys, author of Sky Blue Enough to Drink and Body Braille

"From out of rural Georgia comes a mind that sees at once both the horror and comedy of the human condition. The best poems of Mac Gay's fine book seem like little lightning bolts stopped just before they hit the ground." - Leon Stokesbury, author of The Drifting Away and You Are Here: Poems New and Old

"A few months ago, after reading another self-aggrandizing poem in The New Yorker, I asked myself: where are the real poets, those who forge heart and intellect and craft into something that is, as Dylan Thomas said, "a contribution to reality?" Now I've found one. Mac Gay's poems are the real thing, a beautiful balance of sound and sense. Like the worthiest ghost, they surprise and haunt us. Bravo! -  Ron Rash, author of Poems: New and Selected , The Risen, and Nothing Gold Can Stay
