The winner of THE BEST OF THE BOTTOM DRAWER GLOBAL WRITING PRIZE 23-24

We are delighted to announce the winner for THE BEST OF THE BOTTOM DRAWER GLOBAL WRITING PRIZE 2023-2024, Nellie Bridge, for her debut poetry collection, Holes in the Ship of Theseus.

Nellie Bridge was raised on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State, where she is now serving as Clallam County’s second Poet Laureate.

She attended The Evergreen State College for her bachelor's degree, and New York University’s graduate creative writing program in poetry as a New York Times Fellow. She recently returned to her hometown after spending four years working with teens in Sofia, Bulgaria, and two years in Lima, Peru.

Her work has appeared in journals such as Pleiades, Rattapallax, and EcoTheo Review. A limited-edition chapbook, Plea for Tearing with the Running Hours, was published by Urban Editions. Short collections have been translated into Spanish for the Festival Internacional de Poesía Santiago, and into Bulgarian for the Sofia newspaper Literaturen Vestnik.
