“So, which way now?” he asked The Grin, wiping away the tear-kiss with the back of his hand. “Just keep walking – straight ahead – I’ll let you knew when I want you to do something else” was the reply. Left, right, left, right…echoes of the past. Now, a muted, hazier version, but still a march, ordered by another. He arrived at a park gate. Great ash trees shimmered their leaves; willows trailing their limbs into a large lake. He been here before – before Him. Suddenly a sharp pain stabbed in his head. He winced, clamping both hands sind the pain inside his skull. “I told you to keep walking”.
