Gravel crunched as he pulled to the side of the narrow road winding through the cemetery. A few familiar faces looked over, dressed in greys and for some reason, beige. Black suits, hats, veils and umbrellas were just in the movies, Finn thought.
Steve Baron, who always looked like he was two days recovered from the flu, appeared from out of nowhere after Finn cut his ignition and got out.
“Jesus, Finn,” Steve gave a pair of brief pats to Finn’s upper arm. “wasn’t expecting you.”
“Sorry to disappoint.” Finn replied, looking over and around Steve. “Just paying my respects to Jude.”
“Nah, nah. I’m happy to see ya. It’s just… there’s a few others that might not be.”
“Why? Because I sold my dad’s deli and quit town?”
“No, because they think it was you who killed Jude.”
