By Robert Minhinnick

Poetry

Robert Minhinnick is a Welsh poet exploring the coves and caves of his home town, recalling its history, aware of its dangers. With Wild Swimming at Scarweather Sands, he remembers the countless wrecks on the dangerous coast of south Wales. Visiting the shoreline of his home he discovers a world where both history and climate change are inescapable.

Robert Minhinnick has been publishing since 1972. He has been part of the Welsh environmental movement since 1980, and has published ‘Green Agenda’ – essays on the  environment of Wales’ (Seren 1994) and Gorwelion / Shared Horizons (Parthian Books, 2021) an international anthology  about climate change currently being launched across Wales. He latest volume of poetry, Diary of the Last Man (Carcanet), was TS Eliot award shortlisted. Minhinnick is the only writer to win ‘Wales Book of the Year’ on three occasions, and many of his titles have been shortlisted for significant prizes. In 2010 he was winner of a major ‘Creative Wales’ award and recently he was awarded the Hay on Wye Festival ‘medal for poetry’ (2022).
